The recommended application deadline for Summer 2008 is February 15, 2008,

deadline dates will better ensure processing of applications
prior to registration for the summer or fall coursework.
All application materials should be sent to:
Central Michigan University
Admissions

The
graduate admissions application may be completed on-line or

conditions listed below must be met. In addition, the supplemental
materials indicated below must also be submitted.
- An undergraduate grade point average of
at least 3.0 (on a 4-point scale) in the last 60 semester hours
of course work.
- Successful completion of the requirements
for dietetic registration by the American Dietetic Association
or fulfillment of the minimum academic requirements of the Didactic

Commission on Accreditation/Approval for Dietetics Education
or successful completion of at least: two courses in

must be completed in advance of submitting application to this

of those goals. A portion of this essay should focus upon the
unique qualifications the student will bring to the degree
program.
- Three (3) letters of recommendation from
former professors or professionals in the field of nutrition
and dietetics or other health related professions.
- Evidence of successful completion of an
undergraduate statistics course is strongly recommended.
- Up to 15 semester hours of graduate credit
may be transferred in from another institution with approval
of the advisor.
NOTE: Completion of
this
M.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics program alone does not result in
the attainment of the registered dietitian (R.D.) designation
unless the student is already eligible and completes the Plan B
internship option.
The pathway to becoming a
registered
dietitian (R.D.) requires completion of a CADE accredited/approved
didactic program in dietetics (DPD) followed by completion of an
internship program. An alternative pathway requires completion of a
coordinated program (CP) including a supervised practice
experience. Upon completion of one of the above options,
application for registration eligibility is required in addition to
successful completion of the R.D. examination. These paths are not
offered through this MS program.
Additional information on
the pathway to becoming a registered
dietitian may be obtained at the American Dietetics Association web
site located at eatright.org (click on careers and students).
