Recruit, select, coach
and evaluate faculty and staff who teach FYE 101

Recruit, select, coach
and evaluate student mentors for the course

Establish ongoing
professional development programs for instructors and mentors

Lead regular meetings
among faculty, staff and mentors involved in teaching the course.

Carry out and
periodically update an assessment plan and submit annual reports to the
Assessment Council for review.

Include assessment
results and conclusions based on those results in an annual report to and in
communications with the campus community, including the Academic Senate.

Participate in new
student orientation sessions.

Each fall, teach at least
one section of the FYE course and teach or hire an instructor for the mentor
course.

In concert with other
academic programs and courses focused on first year students: (1) develop an
understanding of CMU first year students' experience and opportunities for CMU
to enhance that experience, and (2) develop and publicize and overview of
those experiences for use in recruiting and retaining students, and promoting
improved understanding and programming within the campus community.

Contribute to national
conversations about the first year experience in the form of scholarship
and/or publicizing the work of CMU faculty, staff and students involved in
FYE.

Serve on the FYE Advisory
Council.
